About Ludhiana

Located in the Indian state of Punjab is the historical city of Ludhiana – famous for being the largest city in the state. The city stands on the Sutlej River's old bank and is a major industrial centre of northern India. Apart from being an industrial town, Ludhianais home to several places of tourist interest that attracts a large number of travellers.

Top five places to see:

Lodhi Fort – It is a 500 year old fort, which was constructed by Sikander Lodhi when he ruled the plains near River Sutlej. Though it is in ruins today, a lot of tourists come here to see it.

Tiger Zoo – This zoo consists of a variety of majestic tigers moving freely in the protected jungles. The tigers are viewed from a distance and offer exciting sight.

Nehru Rose Garden – Spread over an area of 30 acres, Nehru Rose Garden has more than 17,000 plants, representing 1,600 varieties of roses, apart from several fountains. Every year, a Rose Festival is held here, which attracts lots of tourists.

Gurdwara Charan Kanwal Sahib, Machhiwara – Gurdwara Charan Kamal Sahib at Machhiwara marks the site of the garden where Guru Gobind Singh had a sip of water and a spell of brief sleep. The sacred shrine commemorating the historical event has a beautiful building, worthy of the holy tradition.

War Museum – Maharaja Ranjit Singh's War Museum was constructed with an aim to create general awareness about the defense services, which not only serve in defending the country, but are also a symbol of national integration. There are regular shows held in the light and sound hall of the museum.
